Want practical advice to help us navigate through life’s ups and downs? You have clicked on the right video as I will summarise the key points from this book.

When you have a feeling of being stuck or unsure of the way out one most profound strategies is simply to ask yourself: ‘What would I do if I was at my best?’ This question can help redirect our thoughts and actions to become optimum.

It can be normal to go through times and feel our mood dipping, often as a reaction to challenging life events. So it is important to build your mental resilience so that you will cope with these times. This can be done by taking a moment to think about protective factors that help sustain your positive mood and build these into your regular routine. Protective factors might include hobbies, socialising or exercise. For your mood the ideal hobby would be a sociable group exercise, such as dancing or a team sport; find activities that are fun for you that you want to do regularly. When your mood dips it is crucial to keep doing these uplifting activities. You don’t have to do these activities perfectly; just stay in the game.

When we feel low, it’s easy to become self-critical and assume others see us the same way. While it’s okay to briefly shut yourself off from others if necessary, make sure to maintain some contact. Connecting with others can significantly help improve your mood

Motivation is often triggered by action. So, even when you don’t feel like it, push yourself to make the effort and do things that build you up. Spend time with friends, listen to music – get an uplifting music playlist, or engage in activities you enjoy. These small actions can create a positive feedback loop and boost your motivation.

Ups don’t really need managed – these are points in your life to enjoy.  Please note if you are feeling very down and worried about your mood please contact a health care professional.

Summing up I would invite you to maintain your protective habits even when you’re not feeling great, stay connected with others, and remember that motivation often follows action. If you have found this helpful, motivate yourself by connecting with me take action and subscribe.
