2 Second Lean: How to Grow People and Build a Fun Lean Culture by Paul Akers

Nice book about improving management of a factory producing fast caps in which the method of ‘lean’ is discussed and lessons learnt from implementing this.

Based on this my definition of lean, improvements to a process to save time and make it more efficient whilst continuously improving.

Must admit some of the improvement ideas such as CEOs cleaning the floor and making all employees clean the toilet do seem bizarre. The main bit is you need buy in from whole organisation.

Explains how he obtained inspiration from manufacturing in Toyota which seemingly has only a 1% turn over of employees in their factory.

Challenge everyone in your organisation to save 2 seconds from a task each day, then feed this back, this way you can engage them all in improvement culture.

Recommends making quick before & after videos.
